What Are The Effects Of Ambient Temperature On Batteries When Using Battery Test Equipment?

1. Effect of temperature on internal resistance
Because when we use battery testing equipment to test the internal resistance of the battery, we test the discharge of the battery when the ambient temperature reaches 0°C-30°C. The internal resistance of the battery will change with the change of the ambient temperature. The internal resistance of the battery gradually increases, whereas the temperature of the battery increases, and the internal resistance of the battery decreases gradually. Therefore, the battery discharge working temperature is in the range of 0°C-30°C, and the electrolyte has the best conductivity. At the same time, the diffusion rate of hydrogen ions and sulfate ions in the electrolyte to the active material is also high, which not only improves the concentration polarization. Influence, and increase the electrode reaction speed, further improve the influence of electrochemical polarization, so the battery discharge capacity increases.

2. Effect of temperature on capacity
When using battery testing equipment to test battery capacity, the viscosity of sulfuric acid solution will be different at different temperatures. For example, below 0°C, the temperature will continue to decrease, and the resistance of sulfuric acid solution will continue to increase, which will increase the influence of electrode polarization. Battery capacity will be significantly reduced.

3. The influence of temperature on charging and discharging
When using battery test equipment to test the charge and discharge of the battery, we need to repeatedly perform discharge and low-voltage constant-voltage charge cycles. For example, the temperature of the battery is not high due to heat conduction in the initial stage. If the charge-discharge cycle is repeated, the temperature of the electrolyte will be very high. high. However, when charging at low temperature, the diffusion current density is significantly reduced, while the exchange current density is not reduced much, so the concentration polarization is intensified, which causes a decrease in charging efficiency. On the other hand, the saturation of the lead sulfate discharged last time at low temperature increases the resistance of the battery charging and discharging reaction, thus further reducing the charging efficiency.

4. Effect of temperature on battery life
If the temperature is too high when using battery testing equipment to test the battery, such as exceeding 46°C, it will destroy the chemical balance in the battery and cause side reactions. The performance of the rechargeable battery material will be degraded at high temperature, and the cycle life of the battery will be greatly shortened.
